In the Past Year
As the national awareness of the dangers of the childhood obesity epidemic and other diet-related disease has grown, so has the need and demand for The Food Trust's expertise in ensuring that everyone has access to affordable, nutritious food. The Food Trust continues to reach new heights of success in promoting healthy eating and food availability in urban communities and advocating for policy to promote long-term change.
Our Farmers’ Market Program
Opened and expanded farmers’ markets at Broad and South streets, Cecil B. Moore Avenue, Headhouse (Saturday) and Lansdale.
Completed the Clark Park Farmers’ Market SNAP/Food Stamp Pilot Program, which resulted in a substantial increase in SNAP/food stamp sales.

Supermarket Campaign
Helped to create city and state programs in New York, Illinois and Louisiana that encourage supermarket development in communities without access to healthy food.
Was selected as a partner, along with the Low Income Investment Fund and The Reinvestment Fund, in New York's Food Market Revolving Loan Fund.
Has begun work in New Jersey and Colorado to promote policies that will stimulate supermarket investment in underserved areas.
Earned the Centers for Disease Control and Preventions’ Pioneering Innovation Award for the Pennsylvania Fresh Food Financing Initiative’s work in advancing policies and environmental strategies to prevent and control obesity.
With our partners The Reinvestment Fund and Brown's ShopRite, hosted the White House Office of Urban Affairs as it debuted its National Conversation on the Future of Urban and Metropolitan America with a town hall about the Pennsylvania Fresh Food Financing Initiative.

School- and Recreation Center-Based Programs
Reached nearly 70,000 Pennsylvania students through numerous education programs including Fuel Up to Play, Kindergarten Initiative, Healthy Corner Store Initiative and Healthy Times.
